Hi, we are Tom and Emma-May, the founders of Wild at Hartley. Wild at Hartley grew out of a desire to foster nature connected community. It’s a space where we can find and nurture a sense of belonging and kinship with the Earth and with each other.
All of our programs are heart-centred, out in nature, full of practical hands-on learning, music
Nature Connection Programs
bushcraft workshops
Hands-on workshops where you will learn practical skills to hone your awareness and connect more deeply to the natural world. From primitive fire, shelter making, and carving, to foraging and honing sensory awareness, these courses have something for everyone.
Wild Weekend Retreats
Join us for a whole weekend to slow down, reconnect and dive deeper into skills. Held on our beautiful riverside property in Hartley, these retreats weave together bushcraft, nature connection, storytelling and rest – offering space to breathe, learn and belong.
Bush School
Rooted in curiosity, play, and respect for the Earth, our programs nurture practical skills, confidence, and a deep sense of belonging in nature – helping young people feel at home in themselves and the world around them. Come join the Wild Tribe and get grubby by the creek!

Fully certified in the UK as a Forest School leader, As well as a whole year internship with Lee and Gina Chick at Blue Gum Bushcraft, Makes Tom one of the highest qualified Bush School leaders in the country.
Community Centred Approach
For us, nurturing community and re-weaving webs of connection is a vocation. Not only do we empower with skills and knowledge, but most of all we create spaces where relationships with country, self and others can grow.
Storytelling, Music, Art and Ceremony
As a musician and qualified Art Therapist, Emma-May brings music and creativity to all of our programs. Tom's storytelling around the fire will transport you to wild hearted worlds where magic still lingers in the land.
